Bio: 
Erin S. Clinard, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, CHSE is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at James Madison University. She has served as the Coordinator of the Online MS SLP program at JMU since 2015. Erin holds a Ph.D. in speech-language pathology specializing in pediatric neurodevelopment and is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). She has been an SLP for 20 years and has clinical expertise in pediatric feeding disorders and practice in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She extensive experience supervising graduate clinicians in hospitals, not-for-profit clinics, university clinics, and the public schools. Erin publishes and presents nationally in the areas of innovative approaches to clinical education, simulation-based learning, and interprofessional education.

Course Description:
The new academic year is upon us!  With that time of year, pediatric feeding and swallowing clinical practicums will begin anew for numerous graduate student clinicians across the commonwealth. Unfortunately, their #callifPFD excitement can be met with trepidation by clinical supervisors who feel pressured to continue to meet departmental productivity standards, who have concerns for "letting go" and allowing the student to lead feeding and swallowing sessions, or apprehension due to needing clarification on what the supervision requirements are for this fragile population. If you share these worries, or are considering volunteering your time as a clinical supervisor and work with this population, then this is the course for you!  Join SHAV's Dysphagia and Pediatric Feeding Disorder Group as they host Erin S. Clinard, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, CHSE, Coordinator for the Online MSLP Program at James Madison University, passionate clinical educator, and former NICU SLP, as she shares functional strategies to overcome these barriers and more.

Then this is the course for you!  Join Lindsay Stevens, MA CCC-SLP, Medical Facilities Manager with Parapharma Tech, and recognized Clinical Specialist with Phoenix Children's Hospital for a dynamic hour of learning.  Lindsay brings her years of experience, not just as a clinician, but also as a caregiver, to help grow your evidenced-based practice regarding infant dysphagia.  So, if you are unsure of what potential positionals strategies you can employ to see little ones have joyful and successful feeds; or, if you have observed behaviors, signs, and symptoms that made you think the infant may need a thickening agent to assist, then you are in luck!  Lindsay is here to guide your clinical decisions making process by providing you with dynamic facts and resources to treat the littlest ones on your caseload!
